Let's splash some water:)

I managed to finish yet another mini!!

Well... almost finish...
I forgot about water splashes around his foot. He's running after all, and even if the water is very shallow, it shouldn't be so still.

I decided to use method presented by Scalerama in one of their online tutorials (you can find it here and here, or here, if you're interested) to create some 'fuss' in the water.

The method itself is quite simple. You just use clear plastic as a shape for a wave and build weter effect on it to create splash of water, or very dynamic and high wave. Of course building a nice thick and varied splash will take few layers of water effect, some work and patience (in case of such a small mini it can be also a bit tricky) but I think it's worth it.

And what do you think?

New arrival, and Bombel the Inspector:D

My latest purchase arrived today:D

First historical piece, new company in the collection.
Awesome BadA$$ Viking Chief from Pegaso Models.  Scale 1:20, so he's quite big, impressive, and expensive:(.

Ahh look at him! So bold and beautiful;p
Staring somewhere at the horizon. His whole posture screaming: I got the power!! (and I won't hesitate to use it, but I guess just my gaze should make your knees tremble!)

(c) Pegaso Models,
sculptor: Andrea Jula,
painter: Diego Ruina

And of course my Not So Little Green Eyed Monster (not that he's jelaous or something... he just has green eyes... and is a true monster most of the time) had to check everything first.

And final conclusion??

Hmmm lemme think...

Nah! I prefer minis with boobs:P

Can you blame him??:>

VCofCME & Emperors Champion

My exchange mini painted for Superhessianv reached finally it's destination, so I can post some pictures of the finished mini  and WIP.

As you can see painting 'black' armor wasn't easy and smooth process;p But I guess I learned something from that lesson (i.e. I know how to paint  gray armor now;p)
Mostly because I had no idea where I am heading  with the armor, at the beginning I painted it with Field Blue from Vallejo Model Color,  and had to fight all the time to hide this background colour under more brownish hues. But I guess I can treat a layer of Field Blue as an underpainting, that gives final colours something extra.

For a base I decided to use one of the Scibor's basing kits, few bits of cork, sandy paste and grounded sponge. It's rather simple, so I hope it doesn't drag viewer's eye from the mini.

I placed it all on the top of screw top lid from one of old GW paint. Now I think I could paint it as well, but the mini is out of my hands now, so it's too late.

If you'd like to see other minis painted for this exchange, here is VCofCME gallery.

Scarification take 2 and misterious WIP

Unfortunately I destroyed the first one while cleaning the bust for priming, so I had to do new one.
I guess the second try looks better:P

 And here, my misterious project;p
Probably everyone knows the model by now, but shhhh, it's a secret:D

And for the New Year - some inspirational stuff

Creaturespot.com
As the name of the website says it's all about creatures, monsters and concept arts made by artist serious about creature creation.
I found it few months back, and must say, although sometimes it's quite disturbing, I still  think most of the stuff you can find there is very inspiring. Especially when it comes to various painting schemes and ideas.

And ofcourse you can find there artist more or less related to our hobby:

Romain Van Den Bogaert
Daarken
Christopher Burdett
and probably few more.

And by the way, when you're there, check this guy out, he's so freaking awesome.... Alex Cf. Personally my favourite artist there, amazing works (even though rather disturbing and I wouldn't check his blog just before going to bed:P)

The Grinder - WIP

It took me a while, but I finally managed to take photos of the Grinder after changes I decided to make.

First of all, I made his 'muzzle' whole again. In my opinion this way he looks even more dangerous and wild.
I didn't want to paint any tatoos, but still flat surfaces of his arm and chest are begging for some 'attractions' so I decided to try scars and scarifications.
Mainly because even beeing big fan of tattoos and piercing, I find all forms of scarifications extremely hmmm... well, sick. Don't ask me why, I simply think that cutting out parts of your skin to create various patterns is simply wrong. So I guess it suits my wicked warrior - The Grinder:)

I'm going to paint him kinda like an aztec/mayan warrior, that's why I went for sun like scarification on his shoulder. And maybe I'll ad something more on his neck. For a while I was playing with various shapes around his right nipple, but I couldn't find anything that doesn't look cheesy.
On the left side of his chest, partly hidden under strap and knife, is normal scar after a fight with some wild animal.

I was considering some scars/scarifications on his head, but I guess all the leather straps will be enough to make this part of the mini interesting. Especially with this feather like thingy that goes on the top of his ponytail.
